Larry Gassan

Larry Gassan is a self-described "gentleman pixel rancher" who shoots both digital and film — with the eye of someone who has been drawn to images since childhood. Originally trained as a graphic designer and later a print-production and imaging professional, Larry brings a craftsman's sensibility to every frame. He has traveled with X-Pedition workshops five times, twice to Cuba and three times to Hanoi, arriving each time as a harder-working, more confident photographer than the last. Over those trips, he learned to read light, calibrate his camera to the scene, and edit with discipline — his goal always to get the image as close to right as possible before it ever touches post-processing software. That rigor extended to a deeply personal project: a photobook documenting a Vietnamese village funeral he was quietly invited to join in Tho Ha Village, a moment that captured everything the X-Peditions experience is about — presence, trust, and being ready when the unexpected opens a door.
